Year 5/6 take part in a week-long residential trip every other year. In June 2016, they enjoyed a tremendous week at Fairthorne Manor – just outside of Southampton.
“After a long and hot drive, we descended upon the rural grounds of Fairthorne Manor with the sun beating down on us, a fine sight to behold as we had taken the bold and unprecedented step of choosing to camp for the whole week.
We had a truly memorable 5 days and 4 nights experiencing a fantastic range of day activities that would both challenge and excite the children. Whether the children were climbing the imposing Jacob’s Ladder, soaring through the trees on the zip-wire or attempting to light a fire using a flint, they showed terrific determination, positive attitudes and teamwork to make the most of some incredible experiences.
The team at YMCA were fantastic – especially our group leader, Iva, who went out of her way to make the trip extra special, even providing hot chocolate for us around the campfire.
We look forward to our return in the summer of 2018.”
