This year we are known as Pebbles Class!
Ms Harwood is the class teacher supported by Mrs Cooke and sometimes Mrs Foster. A young child’s day in Pebbles class is made up of many different elements: talking and listening, reading and writing activities, stories and poetry, art and craft, developing mathematical and scientific skills and knowledge, religious education, P.E. and music. This learning is linked closely to our big question of the term (see Curriculum: Questioning Curriculum).
The security offered by the firm yet happy setting of Pebbles class enables the children’s educational foundations to be nurtured and to flourish. The Year 1 children in the setting are slowly introduced to more formalised experiences whilst still benefiting from many aspects of the early years approach to learning. In Pebbles class the children are happy, confident and motivated to learn in a positive and engaging atmosphere.
COVID-19 arrangements: Term 6
From 1st June, we have a phased return to school for Reception and Year 1 pupils. Those pupils in attendance will be taught in line with the home learning provided, in order to provide continuity and progression for those pupils who have not opted into this provision.
Home learning provision:
Every Monday each class is set a weekly home learning timetable by their class teacher alongside resources and any additional learning support required. Mr. Taylor provides a weekly ‘PE with Mr. T’ page as well (see ‘Curriculum; PE’). This is all emailed to every family. Families also receive personalised telephone support. The weekly timetables can be seen below.
