Year 5 & Year 6: Katherine Rundell class

This year we are known as Katherine Rundell class!

Miss James is our class teacher, supported by Mrs. Meyer.

In Years 5 & 6 we take on responsibilities such as house captains, sports captains and librarians. We also help to support other classes across the school and in particular, buddy the children new to our school when they join in September.

Our learning is linked closely to our big question of the term (see Curriculum: Questioning Curriculum). We are encouraged to take a responsible attitude to learning by assessing our own work and setting targets for ourselves. As the pupils at the top end of the school , Year 6s are aware of the demands of the National Curriculum tests, which are taken in May, and work with our teacher in monitoring our progress towards these tests.

We usually have the opportunity to take part in a residential visit (once very two years); this experience helps to build determination, positive attitudes and allow us to develop excellent teamwork skills whilst building life-long memories.

Topics 2021-22

Term 5: What if the River Nile never existed?
Term 4: What if we never left our shores?
Term 3: What if we couldn’t harness the power of water? (Part 2)
Term 2: What if we couldn’t harness the power of water? (Part 1)
Term 1: What if there was no erosion?
