This year we are known as Waves class!
Miss James is our class teacher, supported by Mrs. Meyer.
In Years 6 we take on responsibilities such as house captains, sports captains and librarians. We also help to support other classes across the school and in particular, buddy the children new to our school when they join in September.
Our learning is linked closely to our big question of the term (see Curriculum: Questioning Curriculum). We are encouraged to take a responsible attitude to learning by assessing our own work and setting targets for ourselves. As the pupils at the top end of the school we are aware of the demands of the National Curriculum tests, which are taken in May, and work with our teacher in monitoring our progress towards these tests.
We also have the opportunity to take part in a week-long residential visit alongside our Year 5 peers. This year we will be going to the Isle of Wight where we will experience determination, build positive attitudes and participate in teamwork whilst building life-long memories.
COVID-19 arrangements: Term 6
From 1st June, we have a phased return to school for Year 6 pupils. Those pupils in attendance will be taught in line with the home learning provided, in order to provide continuity and progression for those pupils who have not opted into this provision.
Home learning provision:
Every Monday each class is set a weekly home learning timetable by their class teacher alongside resources and any additional learning support required. Mr. Taylor provides a weekly ‘PE with Mr. T’ page as well (see ‘Curriculum; PE’). This is all emailed to every family. Families also receive personalised telephone support. The weekly timetables can be seen below.
