Community Links

At. St. Michael’s CE Primary School we also embrace opportunities to become involved in the wider community both locally and nationally. We believe that this is an integral part of a successful educational framework and provides pupils with well-rounded educational and social experiences.

Dream Team

Our Dream Team consists of a group of children who take responsibility for the promotion and monitoring of the Christian ethos of our school. They ensure that our Peaceful Place is looked after, they monitor the reflection of worship and most recently, have been building a relationship with the residents of St. Bartholomew’s Court. This relationship has proven beneficial for both children and residents alike as they form a wonderful bond with each other.

Rye Food Bank

We collect foodstuff for the Rye Food Bank in the lead up to Christmas as we participate in our very own ‘Reverse Advent Calendar’. This simple concept encourages the children to give, not just receive as we countdown to Christmas. Each pupil is given a designated day on which to bring in a contribution which goes into the class Advent box and all proceeds are donated to the Rye Food Bank who are most appreciative of our support.

Rye Art Gallery

Each year we take part in the Stormont Awards which is run by the Rye Art Gallery Trust with the support of the Rye Community Shop as they invite local schools to participate in their locally-run art competition. It is a wonderful opportunity for our pupils to have their talent recognised and rewarded, whilst building strong links with our community.

Children in Need

We celebrate and raise money for Children in Need as we enjoy taking part in this national fundraiser.

World Mental Health Day

Pupil wellbeing is extremely important to us and we place great importance of pupils’ social, emotional and mental health day. We celebrate World Mental Health Day, raising money for charities that support positive mental health. We take part in practices such as yoga, mindfulness and running a daily mile to give us strategies to keep our minds and body healthy.

Royal Wedding Day

We turned up ‘dressed to impress as a wedding guest’ to celebrate the wedding of Prince Harry to Meghan Markle, ending with afternoon tea in the hall:

World Book Day

At St. Michael’s we celebrate World Book Day in style! Here are a few photos from the day:

Comic Relief

We raise money for Comic Relief as we think of those less fortunate than ourselves.

Christmas in Rye

At St. Michael’s we are proud to support our local community. Each year the children make magical willow lanterns which are used to represent the school in the community procession with their parents, at the Rye Christmas Festival.
