At St Michael’s we believe history should awaken and sustain a pupil’s curiosity about the past, be that locally, nationally or globally.
We feel it is important children understand how the events and people in the past have shaped the society and world we live in today – and therefore our actions today will sculpt the world to come. We teach our pupils to be historians themselves by analysing artefacts and carrying out their own research, questioning what they find out and comparing different versions of the same event. By doing so, pupils will develop the skills of enquiry, analysis, interpretation and problem solving that they will need in life.
